I think the pictures say it all!! I had so much fun, it was the perfect day. (please excuse some of the blurry pictures or over bright photos, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to learn how to use our new camera, needless to say...Im still learning and should probably take a few classes lol)
The shower turned out to be all that I dreamed it would be, I had a vision for it and it played out perfect. I would be lying if I said I wasn't stressed at all, but I had an amazing support crew in my family. The perfect example would be yesterdat morning, 11 AM (1 hour before the shower) I am pulling out of Smith's in sweats, hair just out of bed, no makeup...a little frantic. All I had to do was call my mom and she swept in to save the day by finishing the prep work I couldn't. Once the party started, my work was done. It was so much fun, and sweet for me. I'll let the pictures do the talking though...

The decorations as you walk in the door, a fun backdrop for the Polaroid pictures
I branched out for my friend/family that wanted to be healthier by doing vegan lunches and dessert
The favor boxes filled with homemade grapefruit bath salts, a daily MUST for me with the growing tummy (sorry for it being blurry, I didn't notice)
The favors, stack of scrapbook pages, pictures and pens for the pages (here again, sorry for the poor photography)
The stack of pages, we had each person stick their Polaroid picture on a page and write their advice/wishes to us (it was the perfect way to get a picture of each person, AND walk away with a finished scrapbook from the shower)
The personalized milk jars for drinks, names are written on the tags
The lunch boxes, filled with one of my favorite local lunches, half a chicken croissant and half a sweet spinach salad
The drinks, flowers, and lunch boxes
The yummy water, flavored with limes, lemons, grapefruit and oranges
The dessert assortment (I am obsessed with fruit, especially when dipped in chocolate!)
Soft sugar cookies
Plain fruit for those wanting to be a little more healthy
The onsie station!! Instead of doing baby shower games, I wanted to do something a little more fun, why not have the guests make onsies for the babies on the way?! For those who braved it and were feeling creative we had onsies in the sizes I lacked, fabrics I adore, dies, inspiration photos, and accessories to adorn the babies clothes.

Gift Time! Let me clarify, I hate opening gifts. I always feel awkward and I never know what to say, but it was so sweet to receive so many great wishes for both us and the babies. I was so happy to have my cute little niece there willing to hand me the gifts (we had to get a snapshot of her helping)
Let me show you a few of the gifts I received, a darling "hooter-hider" my aunt made for me, it is extra big to handle TWO babies (notice the two different sides for each gender and it is also customized with pockets)
The adorable blankets and burp clothes from my mission president's wife
One of the sweetest little outfits (although the white kind of scares me!)
The amazing swaddle blankets I have heard so much about (I was so excited to receive 3 for Liam and 3 for Abigail)
We got so many fun and different books! I am so excited to sit in my rocker and read them to my babes.
The cutest little homemade bows for Abigail.
I can't explain how amazing the day was for me. I was so overwhelmed by the love I felt for these little babies. I came home and took the time to read the written pages of advice and all the wonderful cards and I was overtaken with emotion. I am so grateful to have such amazing friends and family, and for the support they give me.Here are the other posts to go along with the baby shower

Hi Shanna,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day for you and your babies to be celebrated. It was fun watching your Mum make the milk bottle decoration at regionals and to now see the whole set up.
Rest up, and get everything put in place for the babes, like I have to tell you that, I am sure everything is all folded and put away.
Big hugs,
Di
I tell my niece (a SU demonstrator in Perth Western Australia) that she receives back what she gives out and I suspect it's the same with the family and friends who surround you. Wonderful to watch the progress of your pregnancy through the pages of your lovely blog. Can't wait to see 'outside' pictures of your precious pair. All the very best Shanna. Mary Macfarlan Perth WA.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is amazing! You thought of everything, right down to the smallest detail! It all looks 100% gorgeous and I LOVE the onsie station (what a fantastic idea). I am organising a baby shower for my friend and have taken so much inspiration from your post..Thank you!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are positively glowing in the shower photos! How wonderful that the day was exactly as you had envisioned. And the onsie station? How stinkin' cute and clever is that?! BRILLIANT IDEA!! Enjoy this last bit of time preparing for the babies. xoxo
ReplyDeleteShanna thank you for this gorgeous post everything looked amazing all that hard work has paid off as it looks like you had such a fabulous day. I also have to comment on how beautiful you look in this pictures, cannot wait to meet your lovely pair. Take care of yourself hugs Monica xx
ReplyDeleteHi Shanna!
ReplyDeleteIt all looked Fab! So beautiful. It is lovely to share your journey through your blog. Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy.
I was wondering if you had a close up piccy of the glass bottles, or if you could explain what you did, how you ahered the labels.
Thanks
Sarah
I tried to attach a up close picture of the bottle, but it didn't work. And I must apologize, I have no idea where the week went, I meant to reply to you the day you asked this question and yet here we are a week later!
DeleteTo adhere the doily to the glass I didn't do anything extreme because I knew this couldn't be permanent, where you had to wash the bottle at some point and the doily was paper. So I just put a mini glue dot in the very center of the doily (not actually touching the doily, it was on the bottle) and attached the scalloped circle to that. what is holding the doily and scalloped circle on the glass is the tension of the bakers twine.
It was that simple! It isn't permanent, but it is on there enough that it wont fall off without a little effort. Let me know if you want me to clarify more, I can do a little tutorial if I need to.
CONGRATULATION!! My daughter had twins 17 years ago and she had a boy and a girl--what a wonderful gift from God. I am soo blessed to have them live close by and even today they are my pride and joy.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the onsie station! How did you have your guests attach the ribbons and such? Did they use hot glue or something different?
ReplyDeleteWe didn't use hot glue, but we did use an iron on adhesive and then my good friend sewed around the design. As for the ribbons, buttons and such, we had needles and thread to tac them on. Hope this helps.
